Further from the archetype of heroism are the unlikely but, eventual heroes such as Harry Potter, until we reach the notion of the anti-hero. Contrary to the sound, the antihero is not the antagonist or the villain but, in fact the main character in some. Catcher in the Rye is one of the most famous books in American literature. Written by J. Holden Caulfield learns about himself and his negative tendencies, and realizes that if he does not do something to change his perspective, he may end up like his acquaintance James Castle whom he met at Elkton Hills.
Holden tries to find help to mend his outlook on life through Mr. Antolini so he does. The protagonist, Amir, is most certainly an antihero, for he has flaws that he has to overcome throughout the course of the novel. As I was reading the book, I felt myself being drawn to Amir because of his flaws. I was intrigued by his nature and it opened my eyes to something: some characters in stories are supposed to have flaws.
It is what makes characters more appealing to the reader and what makes stories more interesting and memorable. Not every story should have a character that is a glorified hero that is worshipped for his little faults.
Needless to say my appreciation for Holden Caulfield has grown over the past few years. Although some of his actions and motives I still question, Holden Caulfield has inspired people to be a little phony sometimes, and I hope to see more of him soon. They both take place in New York, the main characters grew up in rough conditions, and the stories focus on growth of both Will and Holden.
Will Hunting and Holden Caulfield are similar in their ways of compulsive lying and their love of helping others. Will Hunting is an orphan with no known family.
Yet, when he starts to date Skylar, he claims to have 12 brothers. An outcast is a term typically used to describe a person that isn't widely accepted by normal members of society.
In the story The Catcher in the Rye, main character Holden Caulfield struggles with being a normal, functioning member of society. In fact, he often rejects being one by his own device. Holden rejects many social norms, including things like trying not to mature, not adapting to any social situation and watching other people doing things while he doesn't, and just his overall awkward nature.
He does most definitely not succeed in his rebellion towards society. Heath Grant; who is Vulcan, wears black clothes and a black mask. However, the blonde hair he sports illustrates the overall goodness of his character, that at his core he is a genuine person.
The buster sword he carries on his back represents the burden that he carries personally, and as one gifted with the power of the gods. Not many people realise that people come from different backgrounds and experiences, and therefore, people act stubborn.
Many people fail to think through things and also fail to think through the possibilities. Unlisted storyboards can be shared via a link, but otherwise will remain hidden.
